I personally have the Ultimate Acai Blueberry Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie every morning.

No joke.

It has become part of my everyday morning routinewake up, make breakfast, take a shower, get ready, blend this smoothie, leave the house, etc., etc...

Like clockwork.

Once I know I got all that good nutrition in my body before the day starts, then I’m ready to rock whatever it is I’m doing.

It helps put me in the right mind frame, gives me the energy I need, and I don’t have to worry about eating for the next couple of hours.

And since my sweet tooth was already satisfied (by this smoothie, made with real fruits), I don’t give in to those temptations for a processed candy bar, chemical-laded protein bar, or other sweets later on in the day.

I got my fix already!  There’s no need!

Ok, here are the nutritional benefits of the multiple berries in this ultimate smoothie of smoothies:

Acai berries, according to numerous sources, are quite possibly the most nutritious berries available on the planet.   They have been shown to be loaded with antioxidants, which help fight free radical damage and cancer, its anti-inflammatory properties help cleanse the body to remove wastes, boosts skin health, and are high in manganese and fiber, which supports digestion.

Blueberries are also considered to be one of nature’s superfoods.  Blueberries have also been shown to have high amounts of antioxidants,  improve brain health and memory, support heart health, and are good sources of vitamin C, K, and fiber.

Strawberries are high in vitamin A and vitamin C, which both help protect, hydrate, and repair the skin from environmental damage.   These vitamins also help the body remove toxins and wastes.  Like other berries, strawberries are high in antioxidants that have been shown to help reduce inflammation, fight aging, and fight cancer.

Blackberries have been shown to contain high amounts of polyphenols and anthocyanins—powerful antioxidants that fight cancer.  Blackberries have been shown to fight inflammation, and keep the skin nourished and hydrated.  They are good sources of vitamin C, vitamin Kmanganese,  and especially high in fiber.

Raspberries contain high amounts of tannin, an ellagic acid that studies have shown to help fight certain types of cancer.  Raspberries also contain a certain type of anthocyanin that helps support heart health.   These berries are also high in vitamin C and antioxidants that have been shown to fight the signs of aging.

OK, Here’s what you’ll need…

Some quick notes before you get started….

-As you can see, I use all frozen berries for this recipe, as this produces a nice, thick, creamy texture, and it comes out ice cold right out of the blender.

NO need for ice cubes here.

But if you want to use fresh berries, go for it!  Just know that you may have to add ice cubes to the mix as it probably won’t be cold enough or come out as thick and creamy.

-I like to use frozen bananas for this as well, as it enhances its thick texture and makes it more ice cream-like.   Just peel a banana, chop it up into little pieces, put it on some parchment paper, and stick them in the freezer for at least 30 min.   I do this in advance and I have a large ziploc bag full of chopped up frozen bananas.

-You may have to run the frozen acai packet under warm/hot water for about 30 seconds or more, just to melt it and loosen it up enough for lower-powered blenders.

-Because it tastes so good with this recipe, I used Muscle Pharm Combat Protein Powder, cookies and cream flavor.   The cookies and cream flavor may sound weird to mix with this combination, but trust me, it’s delicious!  You can use vanilla or any other flavor you wish.

-1 1/2 scoop of the Muscle Pharm Combat Protein Powder yields approximately 40g Protein.

UPDATE:  I switched protein powders and I use Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Vanilla flavor with this recipe now.  This protein is much cleaner than Combat’s, as it has fewer ingredients, lesser calories, and lesser carbs.  Not as flavorful, but still tastes great.  I still use 1 1/2 scoop.

Alright then, let’s get to it!
