Blueberries are also considered to be one of nature’s superfoods. Blueberries have also been shown to have high amounts of antioxidants, improve brain health and memory, support heart health, and are good sources of vitamin C, K, and fiber.

Blackberries have been shown to fight inflammation, and keep the skin nourished and hydrated. They are good sources of vitamin C, vitamin K, manganese, and especially high in fiber.

OK, Here’s what you’ll need…
Some quick notes before you get started….
-As you can see, I use all frozen berries for this recipe, as this produces a nice, thick, creamy texture, and it comes out ice cold right out of the blender.
NO need for ice cubes here.
But if you want to use fresh berries, go for it! Just know that you may have to add ice cubes to the mix as it probably won’t be cold enough or come out as thick and creamy.
-I like to use frozen bananas for this as well, as it enhances its thick texture and makes it more ice cream-like. Just peel a banana, chop it up into little pieces, put it on some parchment paper, and stick them in the freezer for at least 30 min. I do this in advance and I have a large ziploc bag full of chopped up frozen bananas.
-You may have to run the frozen acai packet under warm/hot water for about 30 seconds or more, just to melt it and loosen it up enough for lower-powered blenders.
-Because it tastes so good with this recipe, I used Muscle Pharm Combat Protein Powder, cookies and cream flavor. The cookies and cream flavor may sound weird to mix with this combination, but trust me, it’s delicious! You can use vanilla or any other flavor you wish.
-1 1/2 scoop of the Muscle Pharm Combat Protein Powder yields approximately 40g Protein.
–UPDATE: I switched protein powders and I use Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Vanilla flavor with this recipe now. This protein is much cleaner than Combat’s, as it has fewer ingredients, lesser calories, and lesser carbs. Not as flavorful, but still tastes great. I still use 1 1/2 scoop.
Alright then, let’s get to it!
